I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! Folktale Week practically kills me, and it's only gotten harder year after year. I've somewhat learned to chill on the comments, but I go way overboard reposting art, because as you say, it feels important to give back to the people who've invested so much time in the challenge. But I can't physically share everyone, and that always bums me out quite a bit. Of course Folktale Week always ends with me thinking NEVER AGAIN, and then I go right ahead and agree to co-host Happy Pets Week! So yeah...right there with ya! 🤪

I mean, what's wrong with us??!! 🤣 I guess the fun outweighs the pain in the end, but I hear ya re: burn out - I can't even imagine the huge workload involved in an event like Folktale week, but then it brings joy to so many it would be hard to say no to hosting. We're all very lucky you guys turn up year on year, its an amazing challenge ☺️♥️
I'll be honest, it doesn't feel sustainable. When we started it, it was a great way for both hosts and participants to gain exposure. But every year it seems to take more and more effort for less and less of a return. And the hashtag search change feels like a slap in the face. I used to work in UX and I can't fathom what they were thinking when they ruined Recents. So bonkers!
Yeah, that IG change doesn't seem to make a lot of sense regards updating with fresh content? I guess the algorithm now favours most liked/interacted with posts, although that doesn't always seem to be the case either - it's weird?
I've wondered what it's like to host an art challenge. Thanks for sharing these insights Caroline! I always appreciate your thoughtful IG comments and can see how it would get time consuming to keep track of everyone. I hope to have time to participate in the Animal Friends challenge coming up!
I realise I sound like a bitter old misery guts 🤣 I can assure you that art challenges are fun and a lovely way to connect to your followers and meet others in the community - just don't be like me and try commenting on every single entry... it'll drive you mad! 🤣♥️
Why is always the fun little challenges on instagram 😭 I’m missing out on so much for not using instagram anymore.
I wouldn't feel too disheartened - I do use Instagram and I still seem to miss all the cute challenges! 🤣🙈🙂
